How much does a home massage therapist earn? Doing the maths properly
Updated October 15, 2026 · 2 min read
Before taking on home massage work, work out exactly how much you keep after fees and costs. This post shows you how, with a concrete example on MiMi.

Service price: set by you, within the range
On MiMi, each treatment has a published price range, and you set your own price within it. Current reference prices: neck and shoulders 45 min ₫250,000, foot acupressure 60 min ₫250,000, aromatherapy oil massage 60 min ₫320,000, Thai massage 90 min ₫480,000, hot stone massage 90 min ₫550,000.
Guests see exactly this price before booking and pay all of it to you after the session. MiMi does not hold your money, and guests are never asked for tips.
Platform fee: 10% during launch
MiMi deducts its platform fee from the fee balance you top up in advance, each time a booking is completed: 10% of the service price for bookings created before 11 January 2027, and 25% after that. Offers MiMi gives guests are deducted from this same fee, so you still receive the full amount at your own price.
You top up your balance by bank transfer, from 100,000 VND each time. New therapists get 50,000 VND when their profile is approved. The unused amount you topped up is refunded when you stop working with MiMi (minus a 20,000 VND processing fee).
Example: a day with 3 bookings
Say you do a 90-minute Thai massage at 480,000 VND, a 60-minute oil massage at 320,000 VND and a 60-minute neck and shoulders session at 300,000 VND. Guests pay a total of 1,100,000 VND.
Platform fee at 10%: 110,000 VND. You keep 990,000 VND before your own costs.
This is only an illustration; the number of bookings per day depends on your area, the hours you accept bookings and your guest reviews.
Don't forget your own costs
The quick formula: real income = what guests pay − platform fee − travel and supply costs.
- Travel: fuel or ride-hailing motorbike fares. Only accept bookings within a radius that's easy for you to travel.
- Supplies: oils, towels, sheets and hot stones (if you offer hot stone treatments).
- Travel time: a 90-minute session plus 30 minutes of travel is 2 hours of your time.
How to earn more on MiMi
- Switch on accepting bookings in the evenings and at weekends, when guests book most.
- Keep your reviews high and cancellations low: therapist levels (New, Standard, Professional, Elite) are based on completed bookings, review scores and cancellation rate; higher levels are shown first.
- Add more treatments you do well, such as foot acupressure or prenatal massage.
- List the languages you speak (English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese) to reach more international guests.
